Sweat equity is a great learning experience in which you work with your family, friends, neighbors, church, and volunteers to build other Habitat homes as well as your own. Working alongside other homeowners and volunteers to build your home is one of the most rewarding aspects of Habitat for Humanity. Sweat equity hours can be contributed by all family members over the age of 16. In addition, up to 100 hours can be donated by friends, extended family, and other volunteers.

Habitat homes are sold at material cost with 0% interest. Habitat homeowners pay for their homes over a period of 20 years.

All information obtained during the Habitat for Humanity family selection process is confidential and will be used only for the purposes of determining eligibility for our program. Families who are not approved during one application period may reapply later should their circumstances change.

The selection of families who purchase Habitat homes is considered by the Family Selection Committee, using criteria that does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, age, handicap, religion, marital status, or because all or part of the applicant’s income is derived from public assistance programs.
